Welcome to the exam project from Axel and Lukas

We are students at the Wood and Furniture College in Rotterdam and are following the (ship) interior construction course there. We will round it off next school year with an ambitious final project. We are going to make a historic sailing ship: a Kinderdijkse Hoogaars. We are both fascinated by historic ships and we enjoy working with our hands.

For our final project we wanted to do something special and investigate the possibility of making a sailboat at school. We soon noticed the unique hull shape of the Hoogaars. Our teacher Arjen Waaijenberg arranged for Lukas to join the workforce at the Meerman shipyard in Arnemuiden for a few days. There he saw this unique type of boat up close and Axel quickly knew It had to be a Hoogaars. And so Project Zeeduivel was born.

The name ZeeDuivel comes from the fish species anglerfish. The translation of the name means sea devil.
